Album Info
Environ-Mental thinking is a big issue right now. Most of us have understood, that we can't go on living like this, wasting the precious resources of our planet by leading an irresponsible lifestlye.nnMijk van Dijk has faced these issues already 15 years ago on his ground-breaking debut album Afreuropamericasiaustralica under his project Microglobe which was released in 1994 on the discontinued label "MFS - Masterminded For Success" from Berlin.nnIn 14 tracks, merged into one great mix, young Mijk shared his visions about the state of our planet and cultures. He stood for those indisputable values of house music in All Our Colours, identifies the now often discussed Culture Clash as a Fear Of The Unknown and spreads a ray of hope at the end with the track The Good Earth. nnThe first single release of the album was the single EnvironMentality in 1993 and in a time when every other techno track was raving about X-tasy or violet skies, Mijk called a warning: Wake up children, your parents wont change this world. They are too old. They ve already lived their lives and taken what they could get. And you will inherit a planet - damaged! Just for the sake of luxury. Wake up children, there isn t much time! True then and even more true now and another good reason to re-release this ground-breaking album of great and timeless tracks breathing the musical spirit of post-communist Berlin with all it s facettes of Techno, House, Ambient and early Trance.nnDuring the making of the original album, Mijk chose to construct the tracks in a fashion that would make it easy to glue them together in the mastering studio. Remember, this was the MIDI age, when harddisk recording was still unbelievably rare and expensive. His studio was yet just a mere collection of old and cheap gear from the second-hand shop, MIDI-controlled by an Atari, nAs a result of this production method most of the original tracks on the CD album had no proper start or ending, so Mijk personally edited all tracks for this 2010-re-release to let each of them stand alone on it's own digital feet. nnThe re-release of Mijkâs first album also marks the lauch of Mijkâs first label âEnvironMental Recordingsâ, which is dedicated to reduce all possible waste of natural resources. Thatâs why we change within and go all digital with the music and the artwork and the paperwork, to show our ambition to preserve our planet Afreuropamericasiaustralica. If you like this album you might also like these...
