Album Info

Serpentine is back with his third album «City Soul Traveller». He says «This album is definitely much darker and moodier than the previous ones. While producing this album my life has experienced unpredictable turns, events which are reflected in the new album». Musically, «City Soul Traveller» has strong influences and pays tribute to the 60’s and 70’s. Psychedelic passages lead into opulent soundscapes. However, it would be too easy to label Serpentine’s latest musical accolade in the confinements of the retro sound revival. Serpentine is a musical jack of all trades and he loves exploring the outer galaxies of the musical universe.

On the track «All Over», a children’s choir accompanies a brass orchestra. «Supercalifragilistic» goes off like good old 90’s head banging rock, a strong contrast to other tracks, such as the soul-searching nakedness found within «Klara’s World». In «Tons of Tears», Serpentine takes the listener on a hilly and rugged lo-fi experimental ride, slowing down to an almost halt immediately by the following track, «Miss You» a love song, written in a moment where love was gone. Sounds are created by Serpentine using his feet to break crockery for «Point of View» while he preaches the benefits finding the meaning of life in the deep ocean. At the end of the album, Serpentine reveals more of his tongue-in-cheek humour with «Love Circus»; a song about meeting the woman of his dreams on the train and finding pleasure in reject her advances.

«I was looking for a mixture of serious authenticity, light hearted charm and for a good measure, a portion of self-irony», Serpentine explains. «I’m really happy and content that «City Soul Traveller» turned out the way it did and the songs go hand in hand with the real life: You never quite know what to expect around the next corner.»

Really beautiful, it's an amazing sound... bewitching. I've just discovered your music and I'm pretty sure I'll see you in live soon in Lausanne, because it's just worth it. I wouldn't want to miss such an interesting experience!
