Album Info
Only a total retard would not love this new recording from DCG . . . from the first note to the last, it says "quality music: unique melodies, fresh improvisations and new and refreshing twists and turns based on the Hendrix legacy."Starting with the first track (which is reprised also at the end) we get originality from DCG, not just compliments to Jimi. The "bingo game" melody is played in a humorous, avant-garde fashion and is definitely something not to be missed. Also, the big guitar sound is always there, complete with overtoning harmonics and long sustained notes, courtesy of good old "twinkle-teeth" (thank you Paul McCartney). The rhythm section is busting out on all cylinders, supported in their attainment of "groove" by a great recorded sound. They must have utilized seminal analog philosophy to enhance their sparkling digital recording technique.
To put it another way, the record sounds good because the recording is good.
The vocal from the young girl is a welcome addition to this mix; she's got a beautiful voice and the composition really works with her original aural approach.
Again, one would have to be a brainless Neanderthal from the other side of Uranus circa -2000 BC to not think this is not just a good record, but a great one!!!! More power to Ducks Can Groove--they may be ducks--Swedish ones at that, but man, can they throw down a nasty, ebullient groove!!!! Music lovers, enjoy . . . [:)] / Larry Coryell.
