STOPPOK plus WORHTY - Grundblues 2.1 2 x 2 = 4…. Those who play with there feet… Nowadays everybody is dreaming of the efficient use of energy. STOPPOK plus WORTHY are putting this dream into action. From top to bottom this means: vocals, guitar, bass, double percussions played with the feet – that is the absolute maximum. It sounds like a double band… like two times two monozygotic twins… or something likewise… The original idea of following the example of an ultimate street musicians and walking through the concert venues with a drum tied to the back, was quickly abandoned because it became apparent that this outfit would prevent the artist from grooving. Instead the artist cooperated with the company Schlagwerk and designed a special feet-operated set of percussions. After a short period of getting used to this new instrument they knew that the plan was going to work! STOPPOK plus Worthy stamp the ground, onto boards and onto various illustrious instruments and thus create a beat which is equipping the songs with an incredible power. “The boards mean the world” – and they are stomped most consequently… whether literally or not. The 16 new songs point in a clear direction: Towards the blues. Blues has always been a part of STOPPOK and his music – but “Grundblues 2.1” is blues as it should be. Blues, blues is the best there is – if you just push it on in front of you! “Grundblues 2.1” is a vivid mix of country blues, blackest New Orleans blues, white blues and of course Stoppok’s original style of playing, singing and song writing. Stefan Stoppok came to know legends like Alexis Korner or Peter Green as the transmitters of white blues, while Reggie Worthy is affected by the black music of Mississippi John Hurt, Elmore James, Memphis Minnie and Ike Turner, with whom he also played in a band. Therefore it comes as no surprise that the duo is having the highest esteem for this genre. The large room of Hamburg’s Vox Klangstudio is providing the perfect setting for the tight playing, the extreme dynamics and the reliable handcraft of the musicians. A lot of bio, a lot of electro, a lot of joy, no boredom and lyrics which tell the stories of real life, which work in the kitchen just as well as in the car-wash, by means of headphones on the tube or whilst hanging from a paraglide. Just as long as this happens to be in the real world!
