Album Info

On their second album Hitboutique do exactly what their bandname leads to expect. They play mega hits classily arranged and presented in style, just as it is the custom in boutiques around the world. Everyone who has listened to the previous Hitboutique record „Best of“ or who has been to their shows will know: With Hitboutique things are never quite what they seem. On their new album they turn Whitesnakes „Here I Go Again“ into a sweet chanson with summery Caribbean rhythms, Hawaiian guitars and a lot of bongo drums. The second song on the CD „Girls Just Want to Have Fun“ with its lazy country groove, pedal steel guitars and harmony vocals reminds of the Byrds in their countryrock phase of the late 60‘s. There are more surprises to come. Among them is a smooth Bossa Nova arrangement of the French pop hit „Voyage Voyage“, a Salsa version of Yes’ „Owner of a Lonely Heart“ and a Calypso version of the southern rock hymn „Sweet Home Alabama“ to name but a few. Those who are wondering why the band called the album „In Love” should know: „In Love“ is a concept album dealing with – well – LOVE. But as one has come to expect, Hitboutique interprets their matter in unusual ways. The sad Neil Diamond song „Red Red Wine“ originally bemoaning lovesickness, turns into a happily swinging ode to a favourite drink, while „Forever Young“ in Hitboutiques version praises youth in the most cheerful and positive way imaginable. Well, as we established earlier, with Hitboutique things never are the way they seem!
