    Mariana Masetto - "La Bumbunita"

In love with her musical roots

I understand it is not an easy task to release an album including, for example, a version from one of the most beautiful Latin American folkloric songs, "El Palomo" (made famous for the one and only Violeta Parra), side by side with original compositions as "Duerme cabrito", a lovely lullaby, to do that you need to be an audacious and talented artist, virtues you'll find very easily in the singer and percussionist Mariana Masetto.

"The Palomo" is just the beginning of a magical travel, sometimes Mariana Masetto alone, with a soft, but powerful voice, and a very unusual use of percussion instruments (from the well know in the Argentinean folkloric music, the "bombo legüero", to the talking drum, and many other mysterious sounds...), and when the guest musicians share Mariana Masetto's space, they show us the same love for this wonderful music: Facundo Guevara on percussion, also the artistic producer of the album; Mariana Baraj on vocals and percussion; Enrique Norris on flugelhorn, pigmeun horn, vocals and percussion; and Lucas Loberto on acoustic bass, all of them bringing their best musical skills to this brand new recording.

Folkloric music can be a fantastic playground, as jazz, a space for freedom, for a bold exploration, bringing the best of forgotten words and melodies to our grey present, these days, the singer and percussionist Mariana Masetto it's deeply involved in that wonderful task, folkloric music from Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, alive and kicking in Mariana Masetto's first solo album, and you're just a click away from that amazing musical territory.
