The title track is as is often the case, the essence of Low Roar. Personally I find it rich and confident like Brian Eno's "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy" but perhaps not as out there. Mostly melodic if not a little sad, like Eno's moody refrain in 'I'll come running to tie your shoes. Some of the lead is strapped in braces of Garbage's leads that knock extrovert out unconscious. Modern blues acoustic folk with minimal analog scratch and hiss undertones. Eno / Pole I / Garbage eclectic finely produced with some originality to keep it wigged and meme-or able.

Low Roar's debut album is a very mature sounding release. It is easy to pick out influences by Radiohead and Sigur Ros at the initial impression but as this album plays on it becomes a unique effort that draws often from a wide range of other influences spanning decades of music. The songs on this album are mostly atmospheric, moody, down-tempo, and consists of minor tonality with textured vocal harmonies and an absence of percussion instruments with the exception of a couple of songs that break away from the mold. "Low Roar" feels like a minimalist effort even though strings, horns, and synths frequently work seamlessly into the spacious and remote-feeling mix. If you are looking for a relaxing, contemplative album then this should definitely be on your playlist.
