bio: -saito koji was born in fukushima(northeast of japan) in 1978.  he uses electric guitar, some effects and sometimes field recordings.  otomo yoshihide's live performance, derek bailey's cd and kaoru abe's video influenced him.  he started recording since 2003 and released 3 cdrs and 1 cd from japanese independent label "magic book records".  He is pursuing improvisation and minimalism.  Saito released "Theme" on Keshhhhhh early in the year and here is the follow up to it. Think Eno, William Basinski, Mountains, process based minimal art, ambient sound forms, space and time, confusion within perception.  "Mizuumi": "mizuumi" means "lake" in japanese. it consists of 2 words. "mizu" means "water", "umi" means "sea". i do not know why, but i think it is very interesting. i live in fukushima, northeast of japan. there is a lake in fukushima called "lake-inawashiro". people swim in summer, and the swans come flying in winter. sometimes i go to there for taking picture and field recordings.  i will explain "mizuumi #1", one of the representative track of this album. "mizuumi #1" was made from the 2 cassette tapes, electric guitar, and effects. one is a cassette tape of the sound of the water of thaw. another one is a cassette of the sea wave(not lake sounds). please refer to the above mentioned explanation. this track is made of 2 concrete sounds(and electric guitar). "water" and "sea". "mizu" and "umi". so, you will understand this track title. nature is beautiful as it is. why did not you make it from field recording only? why did you insert the sounds of the guitar? because music can create an individual aspect.
