Santa Claus - The Christmas Musical by Bernd Stromberger. Freely adapted from the Novel "The adventures of Santa Claus" from L. Frank Baum. Performed by the German Musicalstars Caroline Vasicek, Kai Peterson, Conny Zenz, Sandra Pires and Andy Woerz. In German language with two bonus tracks in English (I want a child, Santa Claus - The Main Title). S T O R Y L I N E: Psst... ! Be quiet... ! Can't you too hear the fine, silver sound of the bells? Can't you hear the snorting and stamping of the reindeers? And isn't a meteor shower flying through the sky there? Ahh... Already you can smell the fresh gingerbread, the marzipan, and the tangerines. And nuts, figs, apples, and candy are falling out of the overstuffed children's stockings, which are hanging clean and neat over the fireplace. And listen to the tripping of little, naked feet, the sliding and running, the tumbling and stumbling; ... stepping too quickly in their big brother's slippers? and listen to the "Oh's" and "Ah's", the surprise, the laughing and the joy in the delighted exclamations of children, just awakened. The wonderful candles of the Christmas tree are reflected in their big eyes, wide with amazement. A hobby horse rests here against the wall, a teddy bear lies there under the table, and in every corner are stacked presents lovingly wrapped in colored paper. The entire village now comes alive, and the ringing laughter of children sounds from every house. Tin soldiers, dolls, balls, card games, story books, crayons, puppets are handed around and are proudly shown off. Yes, indeed, Santa Claus, Father Christmas, was here again and has distributed his gifts and presents. (Song: "Santa Claus"). Father Christmas, too, has his story, which began many, many years ago and which hopefully will never end. He, too, had to fight at one time.... ... for the happiness of children .... CHILDHOOD: At the time when mankind is still young, Ak, the Master Woodsman, finds a man-child abandoned in the forest. After he has entrusted the child to the care of the lioness Shiegra, he attends the moon feast of the elves, to which all immortal beings of this world are invited. When the hour is late, and when the blossom nectar has made him talkative, he tells the assembled Ryls and Knoocks, the elves, fairies, and nymphs, the water and wind sprites, about the foundling, and with his story touches the heart strings of the elf Necile, who slinks away to look at the "man-child". In the cave of the lioness, the elf is so moved by the crying of the small, fragile man-child (Song: "I Want a Child") that she decides to break a taboo: As an immortal, she adopts this human foundling and raises him in the elf forest "Burzee", knowing full well that this action will deprive her of her immortality. She gives him the name "Claus", which in the elf language means "little man". YOUTH: Soon the little "Claus" becomes the darling of all the forest inhabitants. But he feels closest to his foster mother Necile, who gives him a youth full of joy, laughter and learning while playing (Song: "Catch Me If You Can"). One day, Ak, the Master Woodsman, appears and takes him along on a trip around the whole world. Borne by wind and clouds, the two of them look down on the earth. For the first time, Claus now sees the suffering of men, and discovers that especially the children are unhappy. Upon his return, he feels old enough to seek his own destiny, and he leaves the protection of the elf forest. After a long search, he discovers a valley which seems much friendlier than all places that he has visited previously, the "Laughing Valley (Song: "The Laughing Valley"). With the help of the immortals living here, he settles there and begins to set himself up. He knows that nothing would give him more joy than making the children of men happy, but he does not yet know how to convert this idea into action. Chance comes to his aid. One day, when a child gets lost and thus comes to his house, it discovers a gorgeous wooden doll, which Claus had carved as a present for his beloved elf mother Necile. Right away, the child begins to play with it and for the first time Claus hears children's laughter in his house. It seems that the magic key has been found and he begins to make "toys" for human children. MANHOOD: In the meantime, Claus visits many places in the world, gives presents to the children, and tells them wonderful fantasy stories. His fame grows, and people begin to address him as "Santa" Claus. One day, his fairy tales and funny stories make an especially lonely, unhappy aristocratic child laugh, whose status prohibits it from playing with other children (Song: "Fairy Land"). This angers the evil Awgwas, who cannot stand the joy and laughter of children, and whose favorite occupation since time immemorial was to poison the hearts of the little ones by scarcely perceptible whisperings (Song: "The King of the Awgwas"). When the Awgwas threaten Santa Claus' life, the immortals rise up and drive them from this earth, but for this they pay a high price: The elf Necile is killed in the decisive battle (Song: "Kill Santa Claus"). She claims an age-old elf right, and charges Ak with her last "dying wish". She is buried in a solemn ceremony, the elves decorate the old fir trees around her grave, and Santa Claus swears that, in memory of his beloved elf mother, he will make the children of this earth as happy as he himself had been in his youth. OLD AGE and Immortality Santa Claus can hardly meet the demand for his presents, and so he decides to visit all the children of this world only once a year, and to bring them joy. Again, the immortals help him. They lend him their best reindeer and help all year long in making the many toys. Santa Claus' house resembles a gigantic, antique, but very lovely toy factory. In all nooks and crannies there is hammering, woodworking, carving, sewing, gluing, filing, cutting to size, brushing, painting. (Song: "Land of Toys"). But at the end of his life, Santa Claus would meet the fate of men. Weak with age and dying, he is brought before the Great Council of the Immortals. There, Ak, the Lord of the Forests, discloses the last wish of his elf mother Necile: "... so hear my last wish now the last wish that I have Give my son Santa Claus eternity! -The mantle of immortality...!" Since Necile during life had been a respected elf, and her foster son, as "friend of the children" had done many worthy deeds, they grant him the mantle of IMMORTALITY (Song: "The Mantle of Immortality"). And so, since time immemorial, "Santa Claus" comes every year at Christmas time... ... and brings joy ... to the hearts ... of human children!gogoyoko recommends:
