Album Info
If the phrase "industrial emotion" brings forth images of A.I. teddy bears or something about as creepy, you're probably insane. Emotionally charged Industrial would be the correct phrase to describe RÓ's debut album. With it's beauty so clear to anyone with a sense of this age we live in, it leaves one wondering if the album has anything else to offer. A reductionist position for sure, but nonetheless essential to remember since the focus is set on collecting vague images of nostalgia from pretty much all left-field thinking masterminds of music this side of Trent Reznor, with Tom Waits scared by the occational loud passage, but actually in plain sight waving on the other side. And beauty, oh boy... a word so common it seems to have disappeared from our common usage, perfectly sums up all the intentions of Ómar Emilson and Ragnar Sólberg Rafnsson, the minds behind this elusive project called RÓ.The title Battle of Brothers seems like a contradiction since neither member ever feels at odds with the other. There is a grandeur in the soundscapes wrapped around these fairly downbeat musical compositions, the "au natural" feeling in the arrangements, the space only occupied by air between instruments gives one plenty of oxygen to savour every last note.
Leave it at that, beauty... indeed, let it grow inside of me.

What a good album this is! Proof that when people make music purely from the heart, a transcendent picture it can make. The diversity and creativity of these two musicians from Iceland from just middle twenties, are simply striking. They have clearly guided by their own ideas and not of a commercial approach. Beautiful! The songs are well put together piece by piece, and a variety of instruments. I can recommend this album. Both for the music lover who wants to hear something innovative, for the music lover who is looking for real talent and anyone who agrees to less commercial music to listen.

I got a message on Twitter. 'We're RÓ', it said, sort of. So I thought, 'Well, if they're good enough to say 'hi' to me, I'd better return the compliment and listen to their new album.' I'm glad I did. This is an excellent collection of songs, well worth an hour of anyone's time. Go on, have a listen. You'll not regret it.
