Formed in 2003 and hailing from Bournemouth and London, Brenda create a unique strain of visceral, inventive avant-rock that draws influence from a diverse spectrum of music, technologies and ideas. With a critically acclaimed 2006 release behind them that showcased a collection of towering, dark and dynamic songs, built of hypnotic guitar lines, soaring, multi-layered vocals, thundering low end and rhythmic invention, drawn through painstaking digital processes, their writing continues to evolve into something wholly unclassifiable; splintering into myriad directions, restlessly challenging the limits of song. A strong live reputation has been earned from years of touring and national shows with the likes of Red Sparrowes, Cult of Luna, Pelican, These Arms Are Snakes, Noxagt, Rose Kemp, 65 Days of Static and Oceansize, where their intense and expansive sound meets a intuitive, improvisatory group dynamic, spliced with live object-sampling and laptop manipulation.
