Album Info
'The Dream' is both a departure and continuation for Gunnlaugs, who reaffirms her melodic/harmonic concept while gracefully veering off into free improvisation. Having returned to Iceland from New York five years ago, it marks the start of a new life both as a mother and artist based in Iceland, but it is also a continuation of the NY-based quartet she was performing with before the move.The music is enchanting, passionate and personal, and the quartet (including saxophonist Loren Stillman, bassist Eivind Opsvik and drummer Scott McLemore) spins and flows with the music to create one beautiful whole. At the end, the listener is left satisfied as if having finished a good book.
