Album Info

Spieltrieb was founded in 2009 by Gordi and Leo who are originally from Hamburg in Germany but are currently now based in London. Spieltrieb all started with the intention of producing extravagant house music. Leo brought into the partnership his strong DJing skills, while Gordi brought in his experience as a producer of hip hop and electro music. Through this partnership of talents was born a very different sound: a unique blend of techno and house with a deep touch. The "Week Days EP" is the first step in the right direction of Spieltrieb including heavy grooving rhythmical percussion and playful melodies. Their destination is an intimate sound, playing around with field recording and self recorded instruments. With "Any Given Sunday" Spieltrieb insinuates in early morning club atmosphere were you need a cosy sound while keeping up the groove. With a lovely distorted e-piano and big drops Spieltrieb opens their EP to smooth the way through the week. Following on are three more tracks each with their own character and charm, in all a four-track work of art perfect for their debut on Jamie Anderson’s Artform label. Originally set up in 1997 by Jamie Anderson, Artform has racked up over a decade worth of Detroit and Chicago influenced Tech-House championed by the likes of Richie Hawtin, DJ Sneak, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Laurent Garnier. The label released the first records of Jesse Rose and Jamie Anderson as well as music and remixes by established artists such as Dave Angel, Steve Rachmad, Jerome Krom, Eric De Man and Stanny Franssen.
